I am so sorry to hear about your episode. Your cakes are beautiful! I am glad you sent the certified letter with your specifications!

I work for Department of Corrections and we have dishonest people in the system. I guess she thinks no one will ever find out how she "scammed" you. Hope it all works out.

I had a customer that asked me to do cakes for her company birthdays per month. that was exciting, and she orders for her self. well i did 2 christmas cakes and a personal cake for her. her $30 check bounced. i dont run to the bank right away either. well anyways, i sent her a copy of the check, and a nice but forceful letter. turns out she had a problem with her account my check wasnt the only one that bounced, but she was very embarrassed and apologetic, even gave me the fee. so i truly believed her when she sd it was a problem with her account. keep trying to recover your stands, and if i'm using something that i want returned, my deposit is always for the replacement value, you know you will get it back cause they want their money.

I GOT MY STANDS BACK!!! Well almost! I got 2 out of 3 and not miniature lights but I am happy the situation is over. I mailed a certified, return receipt, restricted delivery to my customer at her office (City Attorney's office). The next day she e-mailed me and said I could pick them up at her office. Then she e-mailed the next day and said they were sitting at her front door at home along with the insufficient fee (in cash). I drove 50 miles round trip to end this situation and pick up my property only to find the largest one was missing. All that I found of it was one leg that had broken off icon_cry.gif . Needless to say I was livid and sent her a fax to her office (so anyone could see it) saying that she had 5 days to return the 3rd stand to ME and that I was NOT driving anywhere! She called me on my cell phone last night wanting to pay the total amount for everything (even the ones that I had picked up) and also pay mileage for the 50 miles. I told her that I would not accept payment for something that I had picked up (afterall it was coming from the City Attorney's budget and how would that look?) She was very condesending to me on the phone tell me that I was being overly emotional about this whole thing and it wasn't important to her. She just wanted to put it behind us. I thanked her for her compliment. I am emotional when it comes to my cakes and customers.

Long story short she couldn't find the big one and sent a runner over with cash to cover it and the lighting.

Lesson learned? Stand up for your rights!

Thanks for everyone's support!!!!!! thumbs_up.gif

Good for you. Glad you got your stands and your money. Someday she will be justly rewarded for her obscene behavior. What goes around comes around and she'll get hers one of these days. Would be nice if you could be there to witness it!!

I have always said that if you don't stick up for yourself, you can't expect anyone else to. You did a good job of it!!!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I am so glad you got 2 of your stands back and hopefully you will get the 3rd one returned. I cant believe the nerve of some people. I cant even get people to return my plywood cake boards from sheet cakes!! So IM going to go to all cardboard ones, about 4 taped together and raise the price of my cakes!!! I'm tired of it.

Your cakes were beautiful. I guess we all learn.
