I have just a quick question; when I'm making a buttercream frosting or
anything that requires crisco should I use regular or the butter flavored?
Thanks!!!
PS i'm still working up the courage to start FBCT.
I have tried the Butter Crisco.. It will give you an old antique white color. as for the Reg. Crisco, you will get a nice white color.. Good Luck!
and FBCT are the bomb.. A little time consuming, but are fun.. Give it a try NOW! whatcha waiting on?
Brainsbaker, Thats for the info!
I'm was just alittle nervous about the FBCT; now after seeing your CAKES I'm even more nervous.
.
I don't use Crisco--but wanted to encourage you to try a FBCT.
They really aren't as hard as you would think. For your first one, try and make something that has really bold lines and not alot of detail.
Post pics when you do!!

You can use either type of Crisco, as well as any ratio of butter to Crisco, that you desire.
If you need the icing to be whiter, just add a very small drop of violet gel/paste color to the very end of the beating and it will counterbalance the yellow and you'll have white.

Here a tip from me to you.. I always spray my wax paper with Pam spray before I start my FBCT.. this is just to ensure that the wax paper peels off easily from the FBCT.. they are so much fun!!
I use the regular Crisco when I make BC icing BUT I use the Butter Flavored Crisco when I make Chocolate BC Icing...it turns out so nice and creamy!!
