How To Make Bc Icing Black, That Taste Nice
Decorating By monicaguate Updated 10 Mar 2007 , 12:50am by dmq1298
For my son's birthday, I tinted bc icing in black, first I used unswetened cocoa and later I apply the black, but at the end I used a lot of black and it tasted awful. Since it was a Darth Vader cake, he wanted the whole cake black. How can I make the icing really black, without it getting such a bad taste. I'm guessing that this year, with the new Spiderman movie that will come out, he is gonna want the Spiderman black.
Please help me if you have any suggestions.
I've always made the chocolate buttercream and added a lot of black. I didn't think it tasted too bad. It usually tasted pretty chocolaty.
But here is a bump and I sure someone else can give you a better idea.

I agree with Heather, I always use chocolate icing and add black. It does have a different taste, but maybe you could add more coco to mask it a little. Good luck
I always use chocolate buttercream (I usually cheat and buy the canned chocolate buttercream) and add black to it.
I am going to start making my own chocolate buttercream this weekend and I'm excited to try that!
I buy the Wilton black ready stuff and squirt some into my icing and add some black color too. Let it sit for a little. I always get it really black by doing this!
oh yeah, I forgot to add, make sure you make it the day before you need it, b/c it will darken after sitting for a while. Good luck
