Yay! That's so exciting! I LOVE mine. I got it for a wedding gift from my grandparents, and I use it all the time. What color did you get?

Hi momof3! You are going to have so much fun with it cause it is a wonderful tool to have in every kitchen. I got one two years ago for Christmas and I can imagine not having one it cuts down on time and saves your hand from getting over worked and tired and something even pain if you suffer from cupple tunnel syndrome or rhumroid arthrists, sorry about spelling. Any how, enjoy it and I am sure it will get plenty of use. icon_smile.gif

Congrats on getting your KA! You're going to love it!

I grew up with one, so when I couldn't imagine life without one. My mom gave me one as a wedding present over 10 years ago and it is still going strong (my mother's is over 20 years old and my sister's was 15 years old until she recently upgraded her to the professional one)

One word of advice....it's about $30, but GET AN EXTRA BOWL (and maybe an extra paddle and whisk....no one needs 2 dough hooks though <grin>icon_wink.gif.

You can buy the extra bowls wherever you buy the machines. I cannot tell you how much easier it makes life when you don't have to stop and clean your bowl before you can move on to the next project!

Oooh, I'm jealous! icon_wink.gif

I've wanted a Kitchen Aid for years...I hope to get one soon, even if I have to buy a refurbished one from eBay...my cake instructor said that I would burn out my hand held one on the royal icing we are making next week, so that'll give me an excuse to get a new, better (KA!) one!

Enjoy!!!!

Congratulation on the KA. I know that you'll love it.

I have burned out 3 handheld mixers and I drives me crazy because I find that I still need it sometimes.

ENJOY!

Mine is 23 years old and still works great. My ds#1 has my grandmothers and all it needed was a new cord and a wire whip good as new!!! I bought a new professional model and ds#2 thought he would get my old one Ha I use them both when I am busy. I handed him the portable a won somewhere maybe when I die..... or have money for a colored one Yellow I think...

My husband and son got me one a couple years ago for Christmas because I wouldn't spend the money. I have an original model one from the 40's that I was using but it only had a wire whip on it too. I kept it and still use it occasionally. It still runs great!

For the old ones? When I contacted them a while ago they didn't make them for that model. They said it was too old! Where do you get them? I guess if I was smart I would try the attachment from my new one and see if it would work!

They do not make them but go on ebay and they show up every once in a while the new ones are too round the old one is more narrow.

Look for vintage kitchen aid paddle sometimes you can get the whole old mixer cheap
