I just made a 3-d bear and plan to turn it into a cat...if it's head doesn't fall off first. I noticed that there is a crack starting just under his head so I put him face down back into the pan to finish cooling. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to it. Did anyone have this happen to them?
I read in other forums that this does happen with this pan, I think they recommended that you use a denser type of cake recipe to help prevent this. I have the mini 3-d bear pan and I used a doctored chocolate recipe and it seemed to work ok.
Hope this helps and maybe someone out there will have more info

Thanks for responding The bear itself turned out fine, but the decorating was a mess. I couldn't get the buttercream to stick to the bear and look like fur, so I think I'm going to give up. I'll post a pic later.
I've had it happen before but not since I have used one DH yellow mix and one lb cake mix...
Also when you cool it initially be SURE to cool it exactly as it baked. I think the instructions say to do it right side up but that will break the cake. Just take it out and let it sit 10 minutes and then do the side to side cooling thing.
