So, this week I've been working on my Seahawks plaque, which I painted with dusts mixed with lemon extract. I have the 3 piece set of brushes, the Wilton brand, but after making this plaque, I noticed the tips just aren't thin enough.

My question, do you use artist brushes? Or are there others made specifically for cake decorating? Is it safe to just use artist brushes?

Thanks in advance. Here's a picture of my logo, which needs a little touching up icon_smile.gif

I've bought regular artist brushes and used them. I keep them with my cake stuff and they are only ever used for it.

I've also heard of using new make up brushes before too.

Try www.dickblick.com for art supplies. They're very competitive. I mostly paint my fondant after it's been sculpted and I only use natural bristle brushes. They come in a variety of sizes, starting with a tiny 000.

They also come in different shapes. Craft brushes don't glide as well....there is no control.....and the bristles fall out. I may be spoiled but I can't use anything else...
