I'm sorry for bringing up a subject that I know has been discussed before but I can't seem to find it. Nor can I remember what it said.

Is it possible to save up a stock of royal icing flowers in something like a plastic drawer thingie like they have a WalMart? If so, how long will they be good for and do you need to cover them? I'm thinking that if this is possible that maybe one rainy day (which seems to be everyday here in WA) I will sit down and just make up a bunch of different flowers.

Thanks,

They will keep forever (it seems like anyways!!) Just keep them dry and covered, but NOT air tight until they are completely dry!

I make them up by the boatloads and store them in shirt boxes, a layer of paper towels under the flowers and a layer of paper towels on top. I think they keep forever!

What is a shirt box?

It is a box that you would give a shirt as a gift in.....like the white square boxes you buy in a package of 3 or 4 at Walmart.

I store mine in one of those small 3 drawer plastic thingy's from Walmart. It's shallow and big enough I can store lots of flowers, it works great! I let them dry before placing them in the drawer. I then place a few layers of paper towel in the drawer like a liner so the flowers don't slide when I open it. I also stretch saran wrap across the drawer to just keep things covered. The drawers are still able to slide in and out..no problem.
