So after getting so much help from all of you in planning my friday cake for a dear friend who recieved a job promotion.. it could not have been worst. My 8mo son was cranky all day (he was teething) and would not stay on the floor/walker/highchair for even 10 minutes. He was screaming on the top of his voice and the cake stayed in the oven for more than 5 minutes after the timer went off and it was overdone at the edges. After having out him down for a nap, I managed to make the IMBC, but had to run upstaris as he kept waking up and I ended up putting salted butter in the IMBC. And then I had to make a trip to micheals to get redred and DS threw up all over his clothes and snowsuit and my coat just as I was stepping out. I managed to change his clothes and mine.. this was at 2:00pm and I hadnt eaten a bite all day and was really cranky..sigh. well.. alteast I had prepared for half of the dinner in the morning carrying DS. I called DH who was very sympathetic but would not go to micheals to get me food coloring (he has a sensitive nose and the potpourri fragrances in micheals just shuts down his nose). He said he would take me out to lunch so we went out and had a really late lunch and DS enjoyed that a lot. I get back home at 4:00 (company arrives at 7:00) and I haven't started decorating the cake. DS starts acting up again and I fill and freeze the cake while carrying up for most of the time. My plans to do an fbct(my first one, a hat with a feather) need to be dropped. At 4:45 DS takes mercy on me and goes down for a nap. By then, I need to do something really fast so I look to see if my 101 cookie cutter set has a hat.. i can'tfind it.. so get the star and ice the cake with yellow stars on the top, a big red star in the middle with congrtulations (could not find my writing tip, so it came out all clunky).. sigh.. but everybody was super nice and loved the cake though and I did get my BC smoothed with the spatula dipped in hot water..

Just one of those days. If something can go wrong, it will. I'm so sorry. I know we've all had a day like this and can empathize. I have 3 girls (all under 4) and I know what a challenge it can be sometimes. It sounds like you were able to come up with something in the end. thumbs_up.gif The best laid plans...sometimes it's all about improvising. icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry to hear about your day. I have 3 little boys, 5, 2 and 6 months and believe me i know that their timing is perfect. They know exactly when you need to get something done! I put a lot of pressure on myself when I'm having company over and really let it stress me out so I understand how frustrating it is when things dont go your way. How lucky you are to have such a sweet husbandicon_smile.gif It makes all the difference in the world doesn't it? I know this is cliche but today is a new day!! Kiss your son and remind yourself that someday he will be grown and you can send him to a friends!!!icon_smile.gif
