I have two sources of cake serves. One says a 10" sq will give 25-30 serves; the other 10 to 15. What do you think?
Hi There!
Here's an excerpt from this website (links are below):
The charts below show baking information and serving amounts for both 2-inch pans and 3-inch high pans. The figures for 2-inch pans are based on a 2-layer or 4-inch depth cake. The figures for 3-inch pans are based on a 1-layer cake which has been torted and filled to reach a 3-inch depth.
The serving amounts listed are based on party-sized portions of approximately 1-1/2 x 2 inches or wedding-sized portions which are cut smaller, about 1 x 2 inches. You may wish to cut larger or smaller pieces, depending on whether you are using a 4-inch layer or a 3-inch layer.
Maybe these charts can help

Thats been my problem also for serving sizes there are to many charts to go by. Thanks I'll use this one.
It all depends on how the slices are cut. I usually give people a range of how many slices they can get. Sometimes people cut smaller slices for weddings or children's birthday parties.
I am in the process of making a new price sheet. I am listing pan sizes, number of servings and the prices. I hate it when I draw a blank when someone asks me what I charge. It makies it so much easier if you have a paper to refer to.
