you make a batch of Color flow icing to ice some cookies and forget all about it and end up putting fondant on the cookies instead! 
That is exactly what I did this evening. Sheesh! I was making a batch of color flow/royal icing and had to go to the bathroom. Danced around the kitchen waiting for the icing to finish mixing and then covered it with a damp towel. Went to the bathroom, and when I came back into the kitchen I completely forgot about the icing and got out some fondant to cover the cookies with. Honest to God, I totally forgot. 
I did not remember the icing until I was cleaning up! It's a good thing my head is attached on days like this! LOL
Well, sounds like it's time to make more cookies! Geez, that's funny--I'm sure we've all been there!
