Okay, so I just finished Witons Course 1 tonight. Here is a pic of my final cake. I didn't really like my roses, the icing was really stiff and the edges kept breaking and I kept acidentally pushing the rose off the flower nail. So I need to practice them a little more. But Overall I liked how my cake came out. I would love to hear some feedback from all the Cake Central people!

I would never have guessed it was your first. NICE!

I have trouble with my roses pushing off too. Not sure why that is... but that's ok! I think your roses are great!

Thank you for your kind comments! I had so much fun with this cake. Our instructor really let us roll with our design, which obviouslly deviated from the normal bunch of roses with a bow. I can't wait to start course 2, starts a week from tomorrow!

I too had a problem with broken rose edges. In an earlier forum somone mentioned adding a bit of piping gel to stiff buttercream to help with this common problem. I haven't tried it yet, but I need to because i REALLY need to practice those roses.

I love it! Very original! Color scheme is great. I have found that by combining medium consistency and stiff, you usually have a good rose making icing. If you plan on taking course 2, I find royal icing is easier to pipe and roses come out nicer.
