it's finished!! i made it along the same directions as lisa's spiderman cake. my dog did not like it at all and a few people in the gallery say it's creepy but it is darth maul.(supposed to be anyway) my hubby wants a pin head and freddie now...we'll see. it would be neat to have a collection of cake busts to put in my album. but anyway...thank everyone for the help and ideas that you gave me while planning this one. i wanted to add the black cape around his head but my mmf kept cracking and then it just would't work at all so i gave up b4 i ruined the rest. tabs..i was one of the ones that said it was creepy...i didn't mean that in a bad way. like you said in your post, it's supposed to be creepy. i would love to see a pin head cake or freddy, i think you would do a great job with such as that. sorry if i offended you with my comment. Jen
oh no kc not at all!! it scared one of the kids at the party even!! i might do a pin head but i don't think a freddie would work (not by me anyway) because of the melted face but no you are fine
That cake is awesome! My daughter LOVES Darth Maul. I'm new to this site and missed all the discussion on making your cake. Is there anyway you would mind posting some instructions on how you did it? I love it!
olana: i pm you with the info but you could also pm lisa and get even better ones. im not very computer slang oriented but some one here can also show you how to get to the instructions for her cake on this site(its spiderman but same gist) thanks everyone for the compliments!!
How did you do those eyes?? That's the part that creeps me out...lol But great cake!!

hi jenn: i airbrushed everything first and went back with really really black gel and outlined the edges and pupil of his eyes. the white is what really made them pop after the gel.. thanks y'all!!!
wow...I can't believe they're airbrushed! I was thinking you were going to say they were glass or acrylic eyes or something...lol Really great work!
yes, i agree too. great job..first thing i said when i saw the photo was WOW...
I have one question with a cake in that shape how did you cut it. were do you start to cut i'm thinking at the head. i am thinking of doing a 3d bear but turning it into a dino for my sons b-day this weekend which i never done a 3d before but what is in my mind is how will i cut it.
so how did you cut yours to serve to people.
thank you ahead of time. again great job..
shaddi
hi shaddi, since the head here is actually a wig form i only had to cut on the body of the cake and i started at the shoulders. it was alot of cake and even with big slices we still have cake in our fridge!!
Fa-reaky!!!! Looks great! I think it's following me around the room with it's eyes though! I think you could definitely do the Freddy one, especially since you have the air brush. You could use fondant to layer his scars and then airbrush the color over it.
Darth Maul, Pinhead, Freddy-let the record reflect they all freak me out and I do not wish to be invited to any of the parties with those cakes
Dang!! That's one scary looking cake! The eyes look positively real!! You did a great job on that! I would bet you will be very busy with "Grim Reeper" and halloween cakes when people see that.
Good job!!
Lisa
Oh my, this is one cool cake. My congrats. You are really very creative. Continue the good work.
