Will someone please take pity on me and give me some tips (no pun intended) on piping daisies out of buttercream? Any help is appreciated - I'm trying to duplicate a daisy on the plateware my daughter is using for her birthday - it doesn't have to be exact, just similar. The petals are a bit wide on the one on the plateware. I can make beautiful roses - but my daisies are just not *right*.

Thank you!

Tracey

Can you share a picture of the daisy on the plate and of your daisies?

Here you go - I finally gave up and just left them as they are. I'm learning to decorate myself - no time for classes yet, and I've read that Wilton description over and over and over, lol. I've tried holding the bag at every angle and turned every which way, but I can't get it. I think I need to see someone do it.

Anyway - it's for my daughter's 8th birthday - they're going on white cupcakes - she's pleased, so I'm thinking that's what's important, right?

I will, however, take any advice!

Thanks again,
Tracey

These look great!

I just wanted to say that I had no luck with my daisies, even though I took the classes and had the instructor show me!!! We all realized that some of them actually turned out better (to us, anyways!) if we just switched the position of the tip! (ie: wide end with narrow end, I can't remember which it says to do in the book, but it was tip #104, right?).

Anyways, don't be so hard on yourself! They look great, and you're right, all that matters is that your daughter thinks they're fabulous! (which they are!).

Happy Birthday to your daughter, and Happy Decorating to you!

I have also found that instead of tip #104 to use any round tip and hold it on the outer end of the petal let it build up then gradually pull toward the center-not letting it build up as much as you go along so you end up with a point in the middle. I personally prefer to do them this way, i feel i have more control over where the icing is going.

HTH

But I still think your daisy is adorable icon_smile.gif

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and the birthday wishes for my daughter!
Leily, I will definitely give a round tip a try - I think I would have better control with it too.

Thanks again everyone!

I think they are cute! No they aren't the 'Wilton' Daisy, but they go great with the plate. Which is what you want, correct?

You're right, it is, I was just getting very frustrated not getting it "right" by the instruction.

Thanks again!

I think those would look cute on cupcakes or a cake. And they match very well to what you are using as a pattern.

You have time later to stress yourself out with making a prefect 'Wilton' Daisy. icon_wink.gif It took me a while to get a daisy with the Wilton directions, and I still don't think mine look exactly like the pictures. (I think the pictures are airbrushed. HeHe!)
