Here are the final pictures of the animals I made for our friends little girl's first birthday. I got the call on Monday for a Saturday pickup for the cake. I had made their boy's 1st cake - but it was the pony pan done mostely in star tip. They really didn't know what they wanted and said she liked horses and cows, plus most animals. So I used the opportunity to make some 3-D animal figures. I made the pig out of MMF. He turned out really good - my favorite. But I could tell he wasn't drying as fast as I needed to make the other animals. In fact he still wasn't completely dry when they picked it up on Sat. Any how, I decided to make the others out of gum paste. They turned out okay - but not as smooth as the MMF and the gum paste started to crack, especially on the horse. icon_cry.gif
Just thought I would share - I was surprised that they really turned out as well - considering I ended up having a gall bladder attach while making the cake - even thought I'd have to have some one else bake the cake for me. But I got it done and will go in for surgery on the 13th.
BTW the little girl loved the cake!!!

Thank you everyone for the comments concerning my animals. As for doing a tutorial - I'm no way near good enough for that - and besides I'm a learn as I go and a very "McGuyver" (spell??) type of decorator - I make it up as I go icon_cool.gificon_biggrin.gif . As for the hair on the on the horse - I just ran the paste through a clay extruder I bot real cheep at craft store - it's just a simple green tube really. Just used the disc with multiple holes.

Thank you for all the concern on my upcoming surgery. Not really looking forward to it - but if it eliminates the pain I went through this last week then I'm all for it.
