Does anyone have any techniques other than the Wilton method for creating roses to go on my cakes? I am a leftie and had a really hard time with the Wilton classes because the instructor couldn't always stop and show me the "leftie" way. Especially with roses.

Thanks for your reply. I have just recently seen those new tips made for lefties put out by Wilton. I saw them at Michael's (I'm in the Atlanta area) and bought a couple for making drop flowers. I'll have to check back with them or visit the link you posted to see if there is one for roses.

I am glad to hear that I am not alone with the "lefty" issue!! I can't make the rose to save my life! My instructor admitted that she had never really taught a lefty before, so really wasn't much of a help...although she tried! I don't think there is a special metal "tip" for making roses, for lefties, but it's more of getting the right motion and angle. I'll keep practicing!!! Good luck to you also!

I did go back to Michael's and I purchased the leftie tips they had for making roses. I tried it out when I got home and they worked GREAT! I didn't have to adjust my technique or anything and they came out perfect. I would strongly suggest that lefties try out these new tips.

Wow! How did you come across this 6 year old thread? As I read, I wondered what all the excitement was about these "new" lefty rose tips... I've had some lefty Atecos (123 & 61) for +/- 30 years! (don't know how I ended up with them because I'm not a lefty.) I never cared for the curved rose tipsthe straight ones were always fine for me, but I'm happy to hear that it's helpful for south paws.
