How Well Do You Think This Would Work?

I was thinking... You know how you can add cocoa to icing to darken it so you can get black with less food coloring? How about adding Strawberry Nestle's Powder to the icing to get red with less food coloring??? Do ya think it would work? Or just be totally gross?

Well I have heard of people trying Kool-Aid powder to get the colors without using gel but the results were really yucky!!!

I never thought of that! I guess you'd have to try it to see if you like it. You'd be adding not only the strawberry flavor, but that powder also contains sugar, so it's possible that the icing would be so sweet that it wouldn't really be tasty anymore. Still, I think it would be worth a shot if you wanted Strawberry icing anyway! Pretty ingenious thought!

I always just make the icing pink first with gel color and then add the red. You don't need alot of pink and you use less red. It's like priming a wall tinted with the same color as the paint!
Just a suggestion,
Heather
