...you are such a cake addict that your moving is dependent upon 1) whether or not the prospective house has a second kitchen and 2) how close the nearest baking supply place is. Not family, not friends, and neither pets nor college nor school for the kids... but it's the damned CAKES. icon_confused.gif

*cries* The nearest cake supply shop would be in Portland and the only thing in Salem is a Michaels.... icon_cry.gif

Yeah, I'm pathetic. Just thought that someone might get a laugh out of this. icon_biggrin.gif

You are not pathetic, I am going through the same thing. My dh and I have been talking about me and my wanting a legal kitchen. We are talking about bulding a new house, only because I want a second kitchen. So, we are going to have contractors in to price out this house compared to a new house. I would love the new house but it would add about 100,000 dollars on to our exisiting mortgage. We could afford it, but i really like my lifestyle i have now.

Hey, you're not pathetic- just practical!
My husband and I were looking at some house plans, and the key thing for me if we build is what will the kitchen be like. Also- is the house design condusive to adding on another kitchen to it if the law requires it. I know the house that we are renting right now- out of the whole place I like the most it is the kitchen. My stove and baking supplies area are all withing easy reach of one another, so if my husband and I build- I am baseing my kitchen off of what I have now.

A second kitchen-oooooo! Wouldn't that be nice. I've looked at a few houses that had separate In-Law suites. Instead of thinking of how nice it would be to be able to take care of my or my DH's elderly parents--all I'm thinking of is where to put my sign! Priorities Lisa...priorities--parents before cake!

The wife and I just bought a house and I was stoked when I discovered a hot/cold water tap and a drain next to a room I was unsure what to do with it. It will be converted to a second kitchen! I can't wait!!

I'm an addict too. All day I think about new cake projects, owning my own business, etc. I can't wait until I get a house and you better believe it will have a legal kitchen. icon_biggrin.gif

*sighs* The so-called "second kitchen" consisted of a 3' counter with a single basin sink and a (I swear) half-sized 50's efficiency range.

But... it doesn't change my mind about the house. There's a third kitchen in the guest cottage... and if that one sucks too, well.... I *will* overcome!! icon_biggrin.gif

Man, I just looooove the realty market where we're moving to! The asking price for the house is $199k, and it's NICE. A few months to settle in, and then I'll be attacking one of the spare kitchens with a vengeance. I want my bakery, darnit! icon_lol.gif

I actually completely FREAKED out when my local cake store moved. I thought they had closed and literally--my heart started racing! They actually moved closer to me but their old landlord would not let them post a sign at their old location.

I so know how you feel! I am currently trying to talk dh into making the workshop in the garage a kitchen for me. LOL!

Very understandable........our moves will be based on where the hunting is good, and where I can mess with my wood crafts, and cake decorating...and oh yeah, where I can get rid of my kids for the morning (school) while I do it!

Kandi...

Look for a house in York Town!! They had the best houses there!! Or base housing. We lived on base housing while there & it is several miles away from the base! They were nice houses. I MISS VA SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not move to Newport News.. that is like the drug capital of that part of Va. Hampton is ok too but I just like York Town. The base use to have a Mom's Day Out program there. Don't know about now. ~TC~
