Initially I charged $60 for a friend of my sister's. I got a price request from someone I don't know.

It's two 8 inch squares, the ball pan fondant, and a sculpted fondant George.

I'm pretty horrible at pricing my stuff.
Thanks for your help!!

I would:

1. CHeck to see what a bakery would charge.

2. See what the going rate is in your area of other sugar artists.

3. Ask the customer how many people they plan to serve and what price range they had in mind.

4. Calculate the cost of ingredients and prep time.

The cake is adorable. You did a great job on the details.
In our area fondant cake starts at about $2.25 a slice and can double if the design is involved and the customers budget allows.

Best Wishes...

well 60 is definately undercharged
I dont do fondant, hate the texture and taste so for me its not an option
and I would probably charge 80 for it in my medium
so I guess add your fondant pricin on top of that

Wow, that is an awesome cake. I wouldn't charge less than $80-$100 depending on the number of servings. Even that would be a steal.

A million gazillion $$$$!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Actually, I really don't know because I suck at pricing my cakes as well. Since we're both from PA, I say around $100 - $120. HTH.

WOW! That is amazing...and you did undercharge. I have a problem charging too.
But that is ALOT of work and looks like alot of fondant ...So at least $120 I would say too.
I wish it was easier to price cakes....There should be a forum for that alone!

how long does the george take you? I'd charge upwards of $5-75 for something like that (jsut the george) and $3.50 and up per serving for the fondant cake.

Thank you all SO much! Maybe I'll price it high because I really don't want to de the same cake twice. They are all a laobor of love and if I do it over and over I'll feel like I"m doing production work which isn't what I like doing.

I guess I need to start laying dow the law on mypricing and not worry if someone wants to go elsewhere.

You are all a HUGE help!! Thanks again!!
