I am gatting married this October and love this cake I have seen by Martha Stewart, but I don't know how and were you can get the sugared fruit that is on it--they have Lady Apples on the, which are about the size of crab apples. Anyone have any tips on where to find fruit like this? Also, how do you go about making sugared fruit?

On another topic--I've also like Tiramisu cakes too, but I can't ever find any marscopne cheese. Any idea where to get it at? I am in Ohio, so anyone who is in Ohio please let me know.
Looks like champagne grapes (much tinier than the regular size), mini pears (Fiorelli is the name of them where I buy them), eucalyptus leaves (which you can get at a local florist).
Fruit is sugared by brushing on egg white with a paint brush very thinly, then tossing them in superfine sugar (also known as jelly sugar, NOT regular sugar or icing sugar!!) Then you let them dry on a baking sheet for a few hours or overnight. You can do it with leaves and flowers too. (See my Photos for the Sugared Flower cakes I do a lot!)
I've done a few versions of this cake, and I also used fresh figs, apricots, gooseberries, sour cherries, ivy etc.
Those are gorgeous cakes, Antonia. What icing did you use to acheive those laser-straight edges on your stacked offset squares cake?
Do you have a Whole Foods or Central Market in your area, FallenCupid? That's where I find virtually everything I need, especially produce not found in my local Kroger.

FallenCupid: I don't know where in Ohio you are or what's around you, but I think you can find marscarpone cheese at Sams Club, BJ's, Walmart or Giant Eagle. I believe it is where the ricotta cheese is, but its been awhile since I've bought it so I'm not sure. Hope this helps
Thanks Cakepro! I love the description of "laser straight"!
Anyway, ice with very room temp/soft buttercream, chill your cakes well between crumbcoating & 2nd or 3rd coatings of Martha's Italian Meringue buttercream and lastly, I use a big hard yellow plastering tool from the hardware store rather than the flexible white cake scraper tools we all see in cake supply stores.
i am in mansfield ohio, but i go to columbus all the time. also, yes there is a whole foods in the columbus area. so i'll be able to check both whole foods (for lady apples) or even wild oats which is similar to whole foods, and check sam's club for mascopone cheese.
here is a cake that sunlover00 did Grapevine Cake from Martha Stewart Magazine:

fallencupid, i have also heard of people brushing fruit with a light corn syrup then rolling it around a fine grain sugar. hope this helps.
