I just thought I try Martha Stewart's Hot Milk Cake.

It's insanely simple. Following the recipe, it bakes up so beautifully. Made for a single 9" layer. Its a firm, not too sweet, simple yellow cake. But very moist. And because of it's firm, dense quality, it frosts beautifully!!

If your looking for a good easy delicious cake that frosts beautifully with very little crumbing in a pinch, I would highly suggest this.

I have been meaning to try that one, it is in her Bake It book too. That idea goes back to the depression era, haha, how do I know that, well not personally but I have some old cookbooks and recipes, heck it may well go back before then too.
So glad you mentioned your success, I am marking off recipes in the book that people have liked, to try out.
One recipe I tried out in the Holiday Cookies book, was the Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies on page 36. They were good but not as excellent as other chocolate chip cookie recipes I have and the odd thing is that it is almost like the cookie picture for them was reversed with the one for the Thin and Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies on page 47 because they did go quite flat but were chewy.
Haha, my New Year's resolution is to try one new recipe for something baked, per week. I hope I live to 270 or I will never get through 20% of them.
Hugs Squirrelly

I'll have to try this one. The last yellow cake I made from Martha was not very good. It was too heavy.

I'm glad I found this thread. I want to try her cake this week, myself and was curious to what others have thought of it.

Thanks.
Angie
