are you chilling the cake? or decorating a frozen cake? If a cake sweats it will cause the color to bleed I always use wilton and never have a problem could it be the amount of color in the frosting?

i put a cake in the freezer after it was decorated and when i took it out the colors bled into the frosting. that is a mistake i'll never do again. i've tried the wilton frostings before, but i didn't seem to have a problem with them.

The condensation from the icing thawing was the problem then.

If you HAVE to freeze a decorated cake try putting a fan on it as it thaws..Then it will dry all the condensation and stop most of the bleeding

The fan works great for drying up the condensation before it causes problems! I had to do that on my Charlie Brown that is in the gallery.

This wasn't a frozen cake...but I do live in North Dakota!!! I will try a different brand and see what happens. Thanks for all the suggestions!!!
