I'm making a surprise birthday cake for the first lady of the church next week. I've seen some of the hat cakes in the gallery but I was hoping to get some more ideas. The colors are ivory for the hat and gold trim which I'm going to use ribbon for. I guess what I really need help with is the background on the hat. Like some kind of simple design or pattern--nothing too overbearing but I don't want to leave it plain either. Anyone??? Thanks!

What about the hat being a plain ivory basketweave and place a few flowers on the side.
