I am wanting to make birthday cakes for whenever one of my coworkers has a birthday. However, I don't know what kinds of cakes that they like. What is a safe recipe to go with that most all people like? Any and all suggestions welcome!!

Thanks,

When I'm not sure what to go with I make 1 layer yellow and one layer chocolate, then torte and alternate with either a chocolate mousse or vanilla cream. So it would be a layer of chocolate, filling, a layer of yellow, filling, chocolat, filling and then yellow. It's really nice looking when cut into also.

That's a great idea!! What type of icing would you use?

Depends on how ambitious I"m feeling. Either a buttercream or Rich's Bettercreme.
