Hi all!
I know that this question has been asked a thousand times, but I
am tired and can't find what I am looking for in the search. I am making my first wedding cake and as I feared, the bride wants red roses. I know that red is one of the colors that is hard to achieve. I don't want them to look tacky! Can anyone give me advice on how to achieve red icing that doesn't look awful?!?!?

Thanks!
Rhonda

Use a better quality red-Americolor Red is very good. You still have to use quite a bit, but the red is vibrant.

In the alternative, use fresh roses.

or start your frosting with a pink and go from there. the pink gives something for the red coloring to cling to and step up on and get red from there.

I also start with pink, then add LOTS of red--can't be shy. Also, I make it the night before I use it because the color really intensifies overnight--it's much more red in the morning.
