I will be attempting to make this beauty made by Cakes By Sam for a anniversary, it is simple yet elegant, just beautiful. I have never used dowel rods before and need some advise. The size of the cakes I will be doing is 6, 8, 10 inch by 2 inch, with each layer doubled to make it 4" thick. How many dowels do I need to use in the 10 inch and 8 inch layer for good support? Thaks for any help!

I use 5 for the bottom and 4 on the next. Also before setting the tiers on top of each other lightly spread some icing sugar and each it makes it easier to seperate the tiers when ready to cut. I learned the hard way and it stuck to the board. icon_razz.gif
