Just wanted to let you folks know that you are awesome I decided to take the Wilton Class 1 .....Went to the first night and bought all the nifty stuff needed to get things done for course 1.2.3 and beyond.....Went home baked a killer 3 layer Yellow cake with Raspberry creme filling....*' Light blue for my next class( It took forever to get it level and smooth....I've cooked meals for 150 people in less time)...Got to class the 3 other people in the class ohhh'd and ahhh'd over it...We sat there for 45 minutes and finally an employee of the craft store came in and said .....No one knows where the Wilton instructor is we don't know if you can finish the course we might have to refund your money or give you a coupon for another class ( with what instructor? )...they will call me when they know somthing......So the 3 ladies and I decided to play with our stuff ....since we spent a ton already.......And this is what I did....
I will continue to read and watch your forums and just be in awe of all of you ....Hopefully a class will be found......
Bob
Hey, for your 1st cake it came out really good... especially with no instructor.
That happened to me too the first class I ever took. It wasn't at a Michael's or anything, just a cake supply place that also does wedding cakes near my house. I was so excited for the class.... but the person never showed so we had to start a week later! I was so livid... at least you got to still go in and play... we were left out in the cold waiting for a half an hour. We were all upset, but I guess it was worth the wait.
Wow! How disappointing!! However, by the look of your first cake, you're doing fine without the classes! I'm getting ready to sign up for those classes as well -- I need major help with piping!
I hope you'll keep us up to date about how your next class (?) turns out.
Hang in there!!

Great roses! i love the tips of them, very realistic. Did you use color and lemon extract or a dust or some sort.
Are you sure you need a class?
I showed up for my wilton I #1 class last week to be told the class had been postponed 3 weeks and sorry. never mind my Dh came home early so I could go because I was excited. What a bummer!
Anyhoo...great cake!

I Just streaked the piping bag with Color and made sure the small part of tip 104 was in line with the streak
The writing was just a try at parchment writing, regular butter creme not thinned down
Great job on your first cake. Your roses really turned out nice and your borders are very good too.
You are going to do very well. Welcome to Cake Central, there are some wonderful decorators on this site who are very willing to share their expertise.

P.S. Love that avatar
Hey looks great for a first try..... heck looks good for a 2,3,4th try of you ask me!!!! I'm still working on mine and i took the class 1 a year ago!
Ohman, I wish I would have thought to pipe 'My First Cake' on my first cake.
Awesome and you did a great job Bob!
Holy good night! Forget about taking classes..you should just go ahead and teach classes!
Congrats and great job!!
I don't think you need a class! You are doing great on your own. I can't take classes because I work nights. Everyone here on CC are my instructors. My cakes in my photo gallery aren't the best but for being self taught, with the help of these great CC folks, I don't think they are half bad. Your first cake proves that you can do it on your own too.

I agree with Mrs. Missy-Heck, it looks better than my instructor's cake on that first night!
