can be found in the Scrapbooking aisle at Michaels. I haven't had any success tracking down clear contact paper but I did find a clear roll of what looks to be a thin vinyl/laminate to help cover my cake boards. What's really cool is you can peel it back up if you have an air bubble for a quick fix and it looks perfect when you lay it back down. I think it's original use is to preserve documents and scrapbook pages. Works great since I love using scrapbook paper on my boards.

Is it expensive? I've never seen that. Wonder if it's food safe? I've wondered about contact paper too. Do we know if that's food safe? Probably most of you know more about this than I do.
The other day I used a piece of a fancy vinyl table cover to cover my board. It looked great! At Walmart you can by it by the yard and I had bought it as scrap months ago. It was a fancy wedding type design, but looked great over a white cakeboard. I used double sided tape to hold it in place. I'm assuming it's food safe since it's designed to cover a table people will be eating at, but couldn't swear by it. icon_rolleyes.gif

I used contact paper for the first time this weekend and I loved it. It really makes the colors on the cake pop. I love that you can match it to the theme.

I found the contact paper at wal mart and they had a variety of different kinds.

Here is my tip...I went to the local dollar store and bought all kinds of wrapping paper, cut it to fit my cake boards then covered it with clear contact paper.

I cover my cakes with different papers and then clear contact.

Squirrelly did a post about contact paper being food safe.

Look for contact paper in the kitchen/laundry aisles of K-mart, Walmart, etc. It's usually used for lining kitchen cabinets. I think Walmart has it near the hangers, irons, closet organizing stuff.
