Hi-
I'm baking my dd's 1st bday cake (my first decorated cake). I'm using the Wilton 3D bunny pan (I've already done a test cake and it came out great!). I want to place the 3D bunny on top of a square or rectangle cake. I'm having around 55 people and I can't figure out what pan I need for the bottom. The bunny doesn't make many servings and I want big pieces to serve and leftovers.

I can't figure out what size pan to use and if I need to make one two inch cake or 2 two in cakes and make a layer cake....I'm so confused! If I do need to do a layer cake, any advice for getting the top piece on w/out breaking it?

One more question, can you tell me how many boxes of cake mix I'll need for the size pan that you suggest? Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

What is the biggest pan you have? I would do a 12 X 18, maybe 2 layers if you are going to cut big pcs. That will be a lot of cake. That pan takes 14 cups of batter, which is going to be about 3 cake mixes per layer. You should measure to make sure. As far as stacking the layers on the large cake. I have the second layer on a sturdy board and just carefully scoot it onto the cake, starting from one end. Hope that helps...Someone else may have a better idea.....Good luck.

If you don't feel comfortable with layering large cakes I would suggest going with the smallest you feel comfortable with, yet the bunny will still fit on nicely. I can't remember how big the 3d bunny is.

Then you can do cordinating cakes on the side or do cupcakes-great if you will be having quite a few kids. They don't have to wait while you are cutting the rest of the cake.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much to both of you! I was thinking about doing a one layer and doing cupcakes. I think I'll get the 12x18.
