I am making a cake and I was wondering, can I just use pudding for the filling of the cake or will it all soak in? It is going to be eaten tomorrow for lunch so it won't have to sit all that long.

You can totally use pudding, that is my most common filling that I use for all my cakes, unless someone requests something else. You can use the pudding cups, or what I like better, is to just whip up the Jell-o instant pudding. It tastes really good. As far as soaking into the cake, it may do that somewhat. I find it only gives a fairly thin layer of filling, I'm not sure how to get it thicker without it squishing out the sides.

I make the recipe on the box for pudding pie and it works great
The chessecake pudding flavor goes really good with a chocolate cake!
The pudding did not soak into the cake.
Just my experience.
