What a day! Yesterday I was up early baking a 1/2 sheet cake for a Birthday cake order, and in less then 3 hrs. had been to the store 3 times! icon_mad.gif
I had baked the cake and had been out twice. When I dumped it out
the whole cake cracked! icon_cry.gif I then had to to go out the third time,
get 2 more box mixes and make a whole new cake.
Needless to say It all worked out but I must say I was extremely
stressed out!

I've had a day very similar!! I have a banana birthday cake due today. I normally would have baked it 2 days ago.... no can do! Plumbers still have my house torn apart. I've been decorating around a mess and then moved to the RV to decorate in peace--- then they cut off my water to the RV- so back to the house--- then back to the RV---- a trip to the store because the banana cake fell.... had to buy a banana cake mix because they had no blackened bananas at the store (necessary for banana cake).... finally got it made and decorated... I'll post later.

Maybe the cake Gods are not happy with us today for some reason.

Oh don't you just hate when that happens! I get so mad at my pans when I go to dump out a cake and it cracks or sticks a little. I know it's probably not their fault...probably something I did or just a fluke. If you bake enough cakes, you're going to eventually get one that cracks or sticks or drops in the middle.

I made a banana cake yesterday too Dawn! It was a bundt for the family. Those nanas have to be black as dirt too for it to taste right.

Was it a Cake Disaster Holiday and no one told me?? icon_eek.gif

I tried to bake a strawberry cake for my sister's birthday. I've done it before and never had a problem, but when I came down to take it out of the oven, the whole thing was completely sunken in the middle! icon_cry.gif
And as some of you also experienced, I had to scrap it and try, try again!!

I know- it's just been an off day, it sounds, for many of us! aaaaahhhhhh! And when I have to run to the store we're talking an hour and a half round trip- minimum!!! I was not a happy camper!! I have also made my banana cake several times... never a problem... why did it fall today? GRRRR!!!!!

I'm so glad it's all over and ended well, though.

It seem's to me that whenever your most crunched for time,
that's usually when disasters happen.
I needed my cake done early and of course it messed up. icon_rolleyes.gif

The one I baked this Sunday also became a Cake Disaster! I'm going to post it in a separate thread with pix, but basically when I got home from class and took it out of the carrier, it was cracked in two like a giant earthquake had occurred. It proceeded to crack into thirds - all the way through the cake! It wasn't cracked when I first stacked it and frosted it at the school. It got fine spiderline cracks after I finished decorating it with the basketweave and putting the flowers on, but did not survive the trip home. So disappointing!!!

Very strange that we all had cake disasters from cakes baked on Sat. or Sunday this week! I hope our luck improves!!!

Hugs,
~AngelWendy
