Now that I have finished reading through the forums, I need ideas. My soon to be 8 year old asked for a King Kong© birthday party next week. I have seen the Kong bday party stuff, but dont know how to do the cake. I am thinking about Skull island cutout with kong on it, also the empire state building with him next to it, but I am lost. I seen this great kong wedding cake on lisa's site cakefun, but I know my limits, especially since I haven't done many cakes since I have been here.. so any ideas would be greatly helpful, and greatly appreciated....

The bear pan is a great idea, at least a place to start trying to do Kong. I also have a son who will love Kong for his birthday (I did Godzilla for him last year)...he will be 48 years young!

Thanks for the idea! Janice

That's a great cake, Flavy, and I have to say it is probably beyond my capabilities as well, but I may have to at least try it, maybe a smaller version. Just a thought, we could do the mountain or a building and put a toy Kong on it if we couldn't do the molded one. (Kids would love getting to keep the toy too!) Janice

Now why didn't I think of that? Probably because I haven't done one yet, but it is a great suggestion!
I can see you are going to get me do a CT one way or another, Squirrelly! Thanks for the idea! Janice

I've just done a Google search and found a few pics that will work (maybe) for a Chocolate Transfer, and if that doesn't work out I found a great one for an edible image! More later on my progress...and be prepared for cries for help, Squirrelly! Janice

they have the kit at decopac flayvuredfun. You can at least go look and see what that idea is. I think if you have your own bakery or business and a tax id number you can order from them but j.q. publique can't. (o well, at least we can oogle).
Here's the link, www.decopac.com

OMG! That cake is incredible! I wouldn't want that as my wedding cake though. Wish I could do that!

What about doing a BCT or CT of a close up of King Kong's face, like the pic on the movie site:
http://www.kingkongmovie.com/
Or, I was thinking that something similar to the wedding cake could be molded more easily using a 3D stand up Christmas tree pan?? Good luck, I'm sure whatever you and Janice do will be great!! icon_smile.gif

(Now, I'm off to find stuart's cake!)

Flayvurdfun, did you have any luck with the BCT? My boyfriend's birthday is coming up (on Superbowl sunday) and I did a football cake last year, so I thought I'd do a King Kong cake this year since he loves Kong. Since we're going to be a small group I didn't want to go through the whole carving thing (like the King Kong wedding cake) so I thought I'd do a BCT too, but am having a hard time finding simple outline King Kong pictures.
If your cake is done can you show it to us? Would love to see how it turned out.
Thanks!
