Hey Guys and Girls.... I have a very basic question. I have been asked to participate in a wedding fair, and I have never done a wedding cake. icon_confused.gif It is not until March so I have a LITTLE time. I am going to order some cake dummies from Bakers Kitchen, but I am not even sure what sizes to order.

Could you guys please let me know what the "traditional" sizes are for the round and square wedding cakes. I would like to order them today so that way, I have plenty of time to practice (and pray). icon_lol.gif

Thank you guys!!! icon_biggrin.gif

6-10-14 are nice sizes for a round cake. I like a 4inch difference for my cakes, some people like a 2 in just depends on what you like and the look you are going for. There are some posts about using dummies in the forums section so that can help you too! Good luck with the show!!!

I too would recommend the 6-10-14 inch rounds. Makes a beautiful cake!

As far as the square: 8-12-16

That's what I usually end up using.

Good luck with the fair!

I have done several dummy cakes for bridal shows and my showroom. If you have a specific cake design it helps to pick the sizes. I have found that certain designs require more or less space between the layers.
On my website, under wedding cakes, these are the numbers of the dummy cakes
#3, #4, #8, #10, #22, #24, #25, #43, #46, #47, #48, #49, #67, #110, #113, #115

One thing to remember about dummies that you will be transporting, make them as non fragile as possible. Meaning, don't make a lot of pieces that can be broken off. For example, the one with the purple ribbon around the base and the butterflies#22, ---the butterflies can break off very easily so I don't take it anywhere.
These are my newest displays (made to transport easily to the bridal show) minimal breakage --very simple designs easy to do
#24 sizes 18",15",12",9",6"
#25 sizes15",12",9",6"
#110 sizes 16"square,12"round,8"square,6"round
#113 sizes 11",8",5"
and #115 sizes 14",10",6" square

Hope this helps. If you want the sizes of any of the others, just let me know. icon_smile.gif
