Found the perfect cover for my shaped cakes

I had a great idea & I just had to share. I made R2D2 & Boba Fett shaped cakes today & covered them with an upside down aluminum roaster pan. It's one of those pans that are meant to be disposable, that you only use a couple of times & they lose their shape. It fit perfectly over the cake & it's actually a little heavier of a pan, so I can even put the second cake up on top of it & then put another roaster pan on top.

Wow, that is a strong pan! That idea is great! I have smashed several of my cake tops! Thanks for sharing that cool idea! You really trust it to put 2 pans on top? It must be good!

There are only two cakes so there is only one on top. And it is the heavy duty kind.

Ok, I see!! You put a board in between the top of the pan! Good idea!! Thanks for the pic! I couldn't get a pic in my head! That does look like it will work just fine!

Hi, Midwestmom. I think that was a cool idea. I have done that with only one cake before. Never thought of stacking 2 together. Great idea for me because my girls' birthdays are one day after the other. And I like to work on them at the same time. Pretty nifty!!

We are having deep fried turkey on my son's bday also. So when my husband when to the store to get the stuff he needed to cook the turkey he picked up a couple of these pans. They were laying around & they were the only thing I could find big enough to cover my cakes icon_smile.gif
So he had to go back to the store to get more pans for himself icon_smile.gif
