I am just curious as to some of the names that people have for their decorating business. What is your and how did you come up with it?
Heather
I chose mine because my favourite colour is orange, I am British and I wanted something "food" related. I actually don't like marmalade at all...which is ironic!
The names "Clementine" and "Tangerine" were actually already registered in our city for a clothing shop and a new restaurant...so I chose "Marmalade". The name was ALSO chosen by another clothing store and a cafe at about the same time, so I made it "Marmalade Cake Company" to be more specific.
Mine is SugarBelle's. I live in the South....so Southern Belle came to mind...cakes are sweet....sweet=sugar...so SugarBelle's. My slogan is: The Sweetest Things In The South. A lot of CC members helped me come up with the name. It's amazing what a help everyone here can be! I may change the slogan to something that says I do cakes, more specifically...but I'm trying cookies too, for Valentine's day, so I don't know...we'll see
mine is boring. my business name is "Home Creations BY Melody and my last name." when i first started my business i did a few pies, a few cookies and pumkin rolls but also homemade candles and i tried my hand at sewing a few things (which werent my thing) anyway, since i did a little bit of this and a little bit of that, i wanted to show that my stuff was homemade.
now that i specialize mainly on cakes and cookies i thought about changing my name to something with the word sugar in it...but people are getting to know me by "Home Creations" so i may be stuck.

Your CC name might could be incorporated into your business name. I really like the sound of "melodyscakes"! Oh yeah, you could run a "my business name has changed sale". Who knows, if you keep the same phone #, all your original customers will still be able to call in more orders & you just might get new customers! Is there a bazaar or something coming up soon???
You know, where I live, when you go to get a business license you're charged fee if your business name doesn't have at least part of your personal name in it. At least, that's what they told my brother when he went to apply for a business license.
I use "Theme Cakes by Traci and Kasey." That is the name I use in my ad. I have Theme Cakes by Traci on my website. Kasey is my daughter and she was my inspiration for making cakes so I wanted to include her name too. She tells all her friends that she is my partner!
Ours is "DAZZLING CAKES", my husband is the cake decorator and his name is "Daryl", here is Australia the name is often shortened to Dazza, we originally thought of Dazzas dazzling cakes but that was a mouthful and there was someone registered with the name Dazzling dazza so it was just too close so we settled on DAZZLING CAKES and it has really grown on us and we love it now.
Mine is "Torts and Tarts"
Its a cheesy play on words since I'm in lawschool and a tort is a legal term...and also a cake. Same with a Tart...well, sort of.
Mine is "It's Your Day" ... I picked up a greeting card one day that had a mouse & a cake, with those words on the front cover, and it just spoke to me! It's also generic enough to accomodate some of my other hobbies if I decide to expand on them (sewing, sculpting in Polymer clay, calligraphy, etc)
I really have to completely re-write my web sit now that I know just a little bit more about web design, and I'm not happy with the logo, but that's okay... it's a workin progress!
Mine is Euphoria Bakery. My husband actually came up with it. We wanted something that sounded professional. But I actually sell mostly baked goods and am just getting into serious decorating. It is sooo much fun!
I don't publicize the name much, but I've had a trademark on the name for the last 2 years.
"Day Off Confections" started when I was making well, confections on my "day off" from my regular job. It made sense to me, so it stuck. Without going into a long story about the significance of the logo and such, that's pretty much the synopsis. I may even get to finish the website oneday, it's been sitting idle for 7 months now, with just the logo on the main page.
Mine is Decadence by JK...I wanted something fancy but fun so my sister came up with this one! It was between that or "Couture Cakes"
I also do more than cakes so I use "Sweet Stuff"
but it was a toss up between that one and "Sweet Expressions"
I wanted something really memorable and I think mine works GREAT! I had a consignment business before which I sold mostly clothing but being I used my name which is Candy...people thought thats what I sold. So there was no way I was using my first name again...so I came up with Lip Smack N' Good and left it at that. And I get tons of smiles when they read my card. People love it!
Mine is "It Takes The Cake".
I couldn't decide, so I asked my friends and family to submit ideas and sort of had a contest. The winner got a free cake!
My business, which is now officially licensed (woohooo!) is called "Royal Icings" and my tag line is "Bringing you tiers of joy!"
My business is called "A Slice of Nostalgia." I had a hard time choosing but the more I began to work out the concept or theme for the business it got easier. I was initially going to go with Homemade Nostalgia or Retro Cakes but began to google and kept seeing the phrase Slice of Nostalgia. I guess in a last minute fit of the commitment jitters I wanted to go with The Cake Mama but my husband and I agreed that Slice of Nostalgia sounded more professional and left room for future expansion if I ever wanted to do more than just cakes.
As I´m doing english-american cakes, I didn´t wanted to go with a german name, so I called it "Sugar Dreams". But just one year later a friend of mine (also in the same business) opend a shop, of course here in Hamburg, called "Sweet Dreams" with nearly the same logo and in the same, very lovely, turquoise . So people always mixed us and thought that we are the same shop ... That was the time I changed my name into "Betty´s Sugar Dreams" and went for pink as "my" colour.
Mine is called "The Blue Birch Bakery" because I have birch cabinetry in my kitchen that's stained blue! I became a legal licensed business in Pennsylvania late last year so I can market my name and products on the up and up!
I don't have an "official" business, but someday it will called "The Wooden Spoon" or "Suzy's Sweet Tooth".I'm leaning more towards"The Wooden Spoon".What do you think?
Mine is "Celebrations...Cakes & More" Cakes that make you want to celebrate! is my tag line. I also do party favors and that biz name is "Do Me A favor"
My daughter came up with mine.Dreams & Wishes.
Everyone has dreams and wishes. thats when she said thats what your name is. thought it was kind of unique and original.
I don't really have one yet, but use the name "Cake Space" on my sites, as it is the space for my cakes! Lol... silly I know, but since I'm not a licensed baker and not really running a business yet, I just wanted a space to display my work, so Cake Space seemed appropriate. : )
If I ever get to open a shop or go "pro" I was thinking "Have Your Cake. . " I like the Sweat Dreams idea too.
Mine is "Cakes By Design" Or I had thought about "The Cake Lady" because that 's what everyone calls me. Only now, it's "The Cookie Lady". My husband said "CBD" states more what I do and he suggested adding Specialty Bakery to it.
