What is a good but inexpensive edible image printer? I know that Kopykakes uses the Canon inks, but can any Canon printer work? I found one at Walmart for 49.00. I dont want to speand alot of money since I mainly make cakes as a hobby for family and friends only.

Not all canon printers are compatible for edible ink. Check the kopykake website for the ones that will work. My favorite is the ip3000. icon_smile.gif

The Canon iP1500 is great and usually around $50. You can find them on eBay (buy new and not used or refurbished) or at these online shops.

Verba

MPC

Noonshopper

Those are the places that have them for $50 or less. The prices go up a little from there but froogle it if you want to see more stores with the iP1500 in stock.

The eBay auctions that include the supplies aren't a good deal. It's better to buy the printer and then purchase supplies from a place like www.kopykake.com It will save you $100 or more than if you were to buy the systems that come with the supplies. If you want to purchase your printer on eBay, just search for Canon iP1500 and you should be able to pick one up for under $50 new. Supplies for the iP1500 will run you about $60 and you'll get 24 frosting sheets instead of the 12 that are in those auctions.

The iP1500 will print just as good a quality edible image as any of the other higher priced printers. It's really only the amount of ink you'll have at your disposal that will differ. Since the 1500 is only a 2 cartridge printer, the edible ink is much less expensive but would need to be refilled or replaced more often than would a 4 or more cartridge system.

When you say froogle it, what does that mean?
