I just finisheed my last Wilton class and everyone says I am pretty good at this thing. How do I go about getting more buisness. I want to stay small and bake at home because I do have a Full-Time Job. Any new bakers like to comment? Any vets we would love your knowledge!!!

First you need to find out if it is legal to sell home baked goods in your state.

Word of mouth is always the most effective form of advertising. If you have a license, you can give cakes to places where they are likely to need cake often.

If you look through the hundreds of threads in the business section, you will find a lot of information already posted.

I took a lot of "practice" cakes to work and gave to family and friends to take to work. I also took pictures of them and sent out (almost) weekly emails of a new cake. Eventually orders began to trickle in.

I believe word of mouth is great and giving away simple cakes, that way you can't get in over your head! I have a slide show of my cakes on myspace page and I too send out emails including new cakes that I have done! Good Luck
