I have been decorating for about 2 years now, mainly with buttercream. I have btaken the 3 wilton classes, so I know about fondant, but stay away from it (I don't care for the taste). Anyway, I just signed up for the new wilton fondant/gumpaste class and was just wondering what gumpaste was. I have heard about it and assume it is like fondant, but just wondering.
Thanks!

Gumpaste is used mainly for modelling figures and flowers. It can be rolled much thinner than fondant for flower making and it dries much harder (good for figure making.) As far as fondant not tasting good -- if it is Wilton's fondant -- I agree with you but I have recently been making my own and I love it!!! I just finished the Wilton Fondant and gumpaste class and used my homemade fondant instead of theirs. I use Toba Garrett's recipe for fondant but used vanilla flavoring instead of her suggested. It was so smooth tasting on my cake I am sold!! I have tried Marshmallow fondant before too but I prefer Toba's recipe.
