The one that is in Wilton's Wedding Book.

It is about 4 ft. long with an 18" 1/2 round on each long side and tiers on top.

Every now and then I take a peek at it wishing that I could make it icon_cry.gif

Martha Stewart Wedding. I love the clean lines and simple elegance of the cakes.

You should probably post a link of the site where you got these cake pics. Most if not all, cake decorators (and other people with websites) do not like their pics being used/displayed on other sites without their permission.

Cake_Princess,

I agree that referencing is important, but when I find a photo on the internet or in a magazine, I just store it in my favourites album.

I can't remember where all of the photos come from.......sorry! I hope I didn't upset anyone.

Don't worry Beany such is life. These things happen on the net all the time. Some ppl like to get narky about these things, but so what, not much can be done about it. If people dont like copies of their pictures saved onto computers then they should include safeguards in the code of their webpages to stop ppl from saving the photos. Now back to the topic at hand.
Here is my favourite wedding cake, i think the artist in question is so talented. He is one of my favourites. He is based in Sydney Australia and all his cakes are so unique, including his character bride and grooms that have different size eyes. They're so cute.
The cake is called "Shotgun Wedding". Please take a moment to look at al the detail in this cake, including the expression on the groom's face, the pose of the bride, her tiny cute shoes, her big tummy and the father's face.
I have this cake in one of the cake mags that i bought, and i just love to look at it, the picture in the mag shows lot more detail.

The picture comes from this website

I LOVE IT!!!

I love the black cake too..but I have one question: Would a bride really want to have black icing on her hands as she feeds the groom? icon_biggrin.gif

I also love Martha Stewart..her wedding cakes are so perfect! How does she do it?

That cake is hilarious Boonenati! What a great artist. You can practically feel the groom shaking! icon_lol.gif

And as for the icing....I only WISH I had had a big handful of black icing to feed my groom! It would have made the ceremony even funnier. People need to relax and have more fun at weddings...like getting a cake with some humor in it!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Booneati- That is so wrong!!! icon_lol.gif
I'm hoping that it a joke cake or something. But obviously it's really, really REALLY funny. I'm also hoping it wasn't a surprise for the bride, cause that could result in some hurt feelings. icon_lol.gif
Sorry, had to laugh again.

My friend's getting married in October and I'm hoping to talk her into an ambulance/paramedic themed groom's cake since they both work for the local rescue squad. You've just given me all kinds of ideas!!!

This is a wedding cake I about 2 years ago. Unfortunately the bride was VERY difficult and only sent me a picture of original cake, would not discuss anything regarding fillings, cake flavor aor anything. She just said she wanted THAT cake.....with some changes. I did the cake and she wasn't hapy about it, but I tild her a contract is a contract and left with my money. Haven't heard a word from her since......go figure. But I still get compliments on the cake all the time and have had 3 different brides ask about the design since that.

scWMI-
Very pretty! I'm sorry to be nosy, but why wasn't she happy? (I'm always morbidly fascinated with difficult customers. Don't know why.) It was obviously a beautiful cake. Did she expect you to psychically guess what was in the filling based on the picture?

She wasn't happy with the overall design. I informed her that the design she had chosen involved carving the cakes down, which I had never done before, and the picture was not very clear. She also made many requests as to changing the flowers that were on the cake originally since she hated roses, and wanted calla lillies, but then wanted the pistils not made in yellow, etc. She went on and on about the design, and when I told her I would do the best I coudl with it, she was like....fine, so long as I get exactly what I want. That was pretty much the end of discussion from her, over the phone no less. I've since learned to do a face to face meeting and to basically tell a bride...sorry, but if it's a picture without any instructions or tips and you aren't willing to sit down and discuss a few things, then I'm not interested in the work. Just my feelings on the whole thing.

"Fine as long as I get exactly what I want."

Translation: "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear anything you just said, so I can reserve the right to freak out on you when you don't fulfill my vague, lofty expectations."

LOL...EXACTLY. Like I said...I've had 3 people ask about the cake since then. Nobody has ordered it when they find out how much it costs, as most brides in this area are on a budget, but it's still nice to know that the work is appreciated.

Do you think most people (or just this woman) act unhappy with a finished result because they're looking for something for nothng or because they honestly don't like the cake?

I think it could be mainly that they are looking for something for nothing IMHO. I'm always very clear about what they are oredering, make sure I understand what they want, even go so far as to do a sketch if it's a new design or something we are creating. I'd only had one other complaint and that was when I refused to a cake for a customer who had previously not picked up or paid for two cakes after I had them decorated.

LOL... I'm not upset with you they are not my pics. Just thought I would mention it. I know a person that did the same thing you did and the owner of the pics saw their pics on someone elses site and it caused a lot of problems both for the person that posted the pics and the person that owned the site where the pics were published without permission.

Sometimes it's just better to be safe than to be sorry.

Hey JennT,
I would really like to show the "junstinex" cake (chocolate with swirly design) to a oct. bride. How do I save it to my favorites album?
Thanks, GCF

I agree Antonia, I just love this cake. The description on the website goes "Shot Gun Wedding
What do you do when you can no longer hide the fact that a little one is on the way? Why not have some fun with it and play on the old "Shot Gun Wedding" theme and say it with the cake? Even if dad is delighted about becoming a grandfather"
This is an actual wedding cake, not a groom's cake, grooms cakes have not taken off in Australia, as much as wedding cake magazines have introduced the concept, no one has picked it up.
cheers
Nati

Nope, not a lot of Groom's Cakes here in Canada either. I've only done maybe 6 in my career and I've never been to a wedding with one.

My favorite cake is on this site. Forgive me if I can't remember who did it.

Was Lisa Marie--I just checked. I think it's the most beautiful cake I've ever seen and perfect for me. We plan to renew our vows and if I can't make this one--and I'm sure at this point I can't, I will ask a friend to do something similar. Just a really pretty cake and every tier is different. The only thing I would do differently is to add another small tier with the chocolate scroll work so there are two of those.
