Hello!

My son's birthday is coming up and he just has to have his picture on his cake. Due to his food allergies, I am making the cake myself. How can I put his picture on his cake? The cake will be a round 9-inch. I'm OK with it not being edible. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Thanks!

The easiest thing to do would be to laminate his picture and put that on the cake. You can easily do this yourself with clear contact paper (or clear shelf liner type stuff). Or you could get a picture truly laminated at a copy store like kinko's. To make it edible (which might not be the best idea due to alergies... depending on what they are) you might be able to just buy the photo sheet from a bakery that does edibel images. You could try calling a few and asking them if you they would be willing to make the image and just sell you that (explaining about his alergies might help this. That way they won't try to get you to buy the whole cake from them). Hope this helps. Good luck!

Oh! I just had another idea.... don't know how well this would work though: what if you did a FBCT (frozen buttercream transfer) of his face? If you have any type of photoshop program on your computer you could probably simplify the picture enough to make if posible to replicate with a BCT. I'm not sure if this makes any sense... let me know if you want furthor explination or clarification! lol! Good luck agian!

Here is a " fast had nothing to work with solution". LOL I was in the same situation a few years ago.. I used a lid from the cool whip container. Just taped down the pic, layed it on the cake and around the edges so that you could not see them. Came time to cut the cake, I lifted it off and TADA it works!
Good Luck!

For a truly perfect picture, laminate it. From my experience, cut the laminating sheet a tiny bit larger than the picture for a good seal. The first time I did it, I cut the picture right on the edges, and the grease went through the edges.

I have also made several cakes of people by copying pictures people gave me, like a hurdle jumper and a guy doing a flying side kick. Their faces were smaller, so I got away with the likeness. Also the people saw the picture I copied.

I don't think I'm allowed to post people pictures; but here's my page you can see some on.

You can post cakes with people only if the person's face is on the cake....you can't post a pic that has someone standing with the cake, but if it is a picture cake you can do that.
