I know its more than a month away, but I am trying to get ideas for my sons class for Valentines day. For Christmas it was easy, I dipped pretzles in chocolate and covered in christmas sprinkles. For Valentines day though, I don't know what to do. I dont want to do the same thing. I am kicking around cupcakes, but I was thinking about trying other ideas. What have you all done in the past? His class is 2/3 boys. I was thinking about either a cookie bouquet or candy bouquet in a mug for his teacher. Any other ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Hey girl!! I'm the same way...I've already started thinking about Valentine's Day too. icon_wink.gif I don't sell cakes icon_sad.gif ...their no where good enough to sell. So I'm always excited when there is a holiday so I can bake some things!! icon_biggrin.gif That's what I'm going to be doing...a cookie bouquet. They are so cute and I've haven't had a reason to make one...so this is a good one!! thumbs_up.gif A heart shaped cupcake cake would be cute too!

one year i wanted to do something for my childs elementry class for valinites day party....it was before i really started decorating cookies and cakes, but i made a frosting that was kinda runny and made heart shaped cookies. then took it to his class and let kids decorated there own cookie! they took butter knifes and smoothed icing on cookie, then i gave them a huge assortment of candys and sprinkles to decorate them with. they loved it! they were in the 3rd and 4th grade at that time.

they loved being able to be so creative!!!!

My DD's birthday is on Valentine's day, and she always wants something "different" to take to school to share for her birthday.

The biggest hit so far was the year we made brownies and cut them out using heart shaped cookie cutters. I can't remember exactly how we decorated them, but I know it was very simple, maybe some chocolate or vanilla frosting (from a can icon_redface.gif ) and some sprinkles.

When she was younger, we made Rice Krispie treats and cut them the same way, into heart shapes, and the kids enjoyed those as well.

I think a cookie bouquet for the teacher sounds like a great idea!

Hey Denise...what do you mean your cakes are not good enough to sell!!!!!
You have great cakes in your photos...the UK one alone should make you a fortune from all those Wildcat fans out there.
You Go Sell Girl!!! YEAH!

I'm with Debbie . . . Denise your cakes are great!

The brownie or cake idea cut out with heart shaped cookie cutter sounds good.

CCC in a heart shape? Didn't I see one of those on here somewhere?

No original ideas here. lol icon_smile.gif

Instead of paper valentines from the store I made my son's valentines from rice krispie treats. I formed them in a funnel to create a pyramid and then wrapped them in foil so the looked like a giant Hershey kiss. I attached a paper "flag" (like the Hershey paper) that said "A kiss from Hyde". They were a hit!

An idea for an in class treat is to make cookies in the shape of a heart. Use royal icing or color flow to cover them in a pastel color. Once dry write a message on them in full strength icing so that they look like the candy conversation hearts.

Pink flamingo, I love the giant krispy kiss. I always make my own since i I have a ton of tupperware funnels and they are the exact same shape. But done like to waste all that chocolate really who eats a giant kiss!! but a krispy treat thats more like it.
