Pricing Cookie Bouquets

How do ya'll figure your pricing? Is it by size of cookie only? What about all of the supplies that go into the whole thing...container, foam, filler, etc.?? I've never done any before so I have no clue. But I don't want to have them priced so high that no one buys any or so low that I don't make a profit. I'm using small baskets and small terra cotta pots for containers. The huge pckg. of foam only cost me $2.00, all the fillers I bought (3 diff. kinds) cost $5.00, the pots & baskets totalled about $15.00, and the assorted picks & other decorations around $8.00, cello bags/shrink wrap/ribbon came to $7.00. So I have a supply investment of $37.00 so far...add cost of cookie ingredients...maybe $17.00...so complete up-front costs are $54 or so. I have 10 containers...so I can do 10 bouquets.

So here's my ?'s:

How many cookies in each boquet? A variety of boquet sizes?

What's the least I should charge for a 3 cookie boquet? $8-$10?

What's the most people seem to pay for these & how many cookies should be in the "large" size bouquet?

Sorry for so many questions...just a newbie at this & seriously don't want it to be a flop! DH would kill me! lol icon_lol.gif Thanks to anyone who can advise me on this. icon_smile.gif

Oh I love cookie bouquets! What occasions are you making them for? Valentines day or ?

I have some cookies and a bouquet in my profile if you want to take a look. (I will post one at the bottom) My picture isn't the best thought sorry

Well, as a starting point here are my thoughts:

$54/10 = $5.40 each for the 10 bouquets you have supplies for and that doesn't include cookies yet....and that's just your cost with no profit included...

OK, here are some things for you to think on:


Do you have an idea of what cookie design you want to use? Cookies take a long time so it's not just cost of ingredients, its your time in decorating.

It also depends on how big your cookies are, what design is on them, how detailed they are and how good a job you do decorating them.

Depending on those factors, I think a 3 cookie bouquet could go from $14 - $20 for more intricate detailed work. Do not undercharge or you will hate yourself. Trust me, LOL.

Can you do a sample bouquet first? Take quality pictures and then ask all your friends and family for orders? That way they have an idea of what they are getting, you have an idea of how long it will take... and be able to adjust the price accordingly. icon_biggrin.gif

Now if I were charging for the bouquet in the picture it would have been more like $20-$25 it was in an very nice large mug)

Thanks, Okieinalaska! Well, the $54 did include cost of ingredients for cookies. But not my time. So starting out with a base price of $5.40 ea is probably a good thing. As for the decorations, some will be simple, others a little more detailed. These are for Valentine's Day. Hearts and circles are the only shapes I'll be doing. I've done cookies, but not bouquets before. And strangely enough, I'm faster at the cookies than I am cakes, by far!! lol

I think I will take your suggestion & do a sample boquet and see what some of my family thinks and you guys here at CC. Thanks!! icon_wink.gif

I make a 3-cookie bouquet and sell for $15.00. I usually arrange them in a coffee mug from the dollar store that I put foam in. Then fill in with candy such as Kisses (esp. for Valentine's day). My 7-cookie rose bouquest sells for $40-$45.00 depending on if I deliver it (6 cookie roses and 1 message cookie). My cello bags come from a packaging store and i get 100 for about $6.00, then I tie them with curling ribbon that I get at Michael's with my 40 % off coupon (large spool).

I have several in my photos.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
