Well I guess the ip1600 I bought will be for my photos and I will have to invest in another printer for the edible images.

The edible ink cartridges that are available right now aren't compatible with the 1600. Hold onto it though. Kopykake www.kopykake.com is working on cartridges for the newer Canon models. Those should be compatible with the 1600. Not sure of the release date yet though. You can check here for updates...

NEWEST EDIBLE PRINTER ON THE MARKET, the Canon ip1500

I have to disagree with that statement.....those are about obsolete now, aren't they? If you can find them they are usually under $50. now.

It may still be a good deal with all that comes with it.....not sure, I don't own one yet.

Edible Inks are like $40 - 50. and the paper (when I checked) was like $28.....

I just got the ip6000 requires 6 tanks of colors, it's considered very good but now there's the ip9000 now that's the best there's out there for edible images.

This really isn't a good deal. The printer is about $50 or less retail and the supplies it comes with are also about $50 retail. If you were to just buy the printer and supplies separately it would only cost $100 instead of the $200 asking price in that auction.

A printer that uses only 2 ink tanks will print the same quality images as a printer that uses 4, 6 or 8. You should avoid purchasing printers which require more than 4 cartridges since it wouldn't be cost effective. The iP1500 or iP3000 are the best choices right now and will be until the new edible ink cartridges come out to fit the newest model Canon printers.
