I can't believe it! I just happened to be watching FoodNetwork and my least favorite show was on-Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee. Normally I'd rather watch paint dry and get root canal than watch her but she said she was going to make a champagne cake so she peaked my interest. Well I made it last night and it was actually good!! I also added champagne to my buttercream and it turned out great. Not that she will get me to watch but I'll give her a bit of credit! I should say she "actually" made something great not "acutally"

lol I see we share more than just a birthday dodibug!! There are a couple of shows on FN that I find rather boring. I've been wanting to try a Champagne cake. I'll have to check it out icon_smile.gif

It was really simple-1 white cake box mix, 1 1/4 c extra dry champagne (I had to use a sweeter champagne so the results were more subtle), 1/3 c oil, 3 large egg whites. Bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean. She made it in a 9x13 pan and then used a 3in biscuit cutter to make baby cakes but I made it in 2 6in cake pans. It was a beautiful white and very light!
