Hi Everyone,

I am so pleased with my Barbie cake and wanted to share it with you.

Her dress was suppose to be red MMf but the fondant kept splitting on me icon_cry.gif so I had to go with the b/c icing instead and used tip #225 for her dress design...first time using this tip and I've fell in love with it.

The bottom cake is ccovered in the fondant...I think I'm getting better covering and smoothing the fondant icon_lol.gif I used everyone's tips on covering thumbs_up.gif

This is an awesome cake! I am amazed. How long have you been decorating cakes? I'm just learning and at this point my 13 year old daughter does a better job than I do. icon_redface.gif Again what an amazing job! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks so much.

Mother,

Welcome to CC.

I've been decorating cakes for about 3 years off an on. For the past year I've been doing it pretty steady...still have alot to learn icon_lol.gif
Don't get discouraged, the more you do, the better and faster you get thumbs_up.gif

Lastingmoments,

So glad that you are back...really missed you icon_cry.gif Hope you are feeling better thumbs_up.gif

Yes, this is the infamous Barbie...I was so happy to get her back, she was surely missed icon_cry.gif Barbie was in bad shape and had to go to the beautician again icon_wink.gif

I used tulle (2 yards) and just tied it around her waist and fluffed it out.

boween,

Thanks thumbs_up.gif

I'm beginning to like covering with fondant. I just need to practice smoothing more around the edges...they want to pucker.

cakecre8tor,

Thanks for the compliment.

Your cake is beautiful! I have never heard of Americolor before. Where can I buy that brand? I know I can't get it at Michael's but I haven't seen it anywhere else. I am a fairly new decorator looking for helpful hints and would appreciate any you might have. My email is [email protected]

Stephanie,
Your cake is just gorgeous! Did you use glitter on her too? She is so sparkly! I love it. And the red really pops! Great job! Love the bow too!

Hi Heather,

No, I didn't use any glitter. I think that the tulle is giving that illusion.

I just used the Americolor super red and added more than I normally would because I wanted it to be a deep, deep red.

Thanks thumbs_up.gif
