My Christmas Barbie Doll...take A Look
Decorating By stephanie214 Updated 7 Jan 2006 , 3:16pm by stephanie214
Hi Everyone,
I am so pleased with my Barbie cake and wanted to share it with you.
Her dress was suppose to be red MMf but the fondant kept splitting on me so I had to go with the b/c icing instead and used tip #225 for her dress design...first time using this tip and I've fell in love with it.
The bottom cake is ccovered in the fondant...I think I'm getting better covering and smoothing the fondant I used everyone's tips on covering
Steph...she is awesome!! I really like the BC dress..and the bow looks great!! The colors are just beautiful!! You go girl!!!
Hugs, ~Denise
Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments.
mvigil and Denise,
I use the Americolor Super Red...love it to death.
This is an awesome cake! I am amazed. How long have you been decorating cakes? I'm just learning and at this point my 13 year old daughter does a better job than I do. Again what an amazing job!
beautiful.....how did you secure the bow....lookes flawless from here.....
love it love it
by the way was this the infamous runaway barbie
Thanks so much.
Mother,
Welcome to CC.
I've been decorating cakes for about 3 years off an on. For the past year I've been doing it pretty steady...still have alot to learn
Don't get discouraged, the more you do, the better and faster you get
Lastingmoments,
So glad that you are back...really missed you Hope you are feeling better
Yes, this is the infamous Barbie...I was so happy to get her back, she was surely missed Barbie was in bad shape and had to go to the beautician again
I used tulle (2 yards) and just tied it around her waist and fluffed it out.
Stephanie,
The doll cake it just gorgeous! I think the sheer red bow makes it look so elegant. I too love Americolor super red...I will never use wilton red again!
Happy New Year!
Beautiful color. I just love Americolors you get such great colors with it.
Love the Cake, great job.
Thanks so much
Wish I could afford to throw all my Wilton colors out right now and replace with the Americolor
Your christmas doll is beautiful, you did a perfect job covering the cake in fondant!
boween,
Thanks
I'm beginning to like covering with fondant. I just need to practice smoothing more around the edges...they want to pucker.
cakecre8tor,
Thanks for the compliment.
Your cake is beautiful! I have never heard of Americolor before. Where can I buy that brand? I know I can't get it at Michael's but I haven't seen it anywhere else. I am a fairly new decorator looking for helpful hints and would appreciate any you might have. My email is [email protected]
Stephanie,
Your cake is just gorgeous! Did you use glitter on her too? She is so sparkly! I love it. And the red really pops! Great job! Love the bow too!
Heather
Hi Heather,
No, I didn't use any glitter. I think that the tulle is giving that illusion.
I just used the Americolor super red and added more than I normally would because I wanted it to be a deep, deep red.
Thanks
