I'm going to be doing 12 cookie bouquets in May for a luncheon, with the cookies being flowers. I'm wondering if there's a less messy way of getting 72 cookie sticks green than the method I'm currently using. I pour a little food coloring onto waxed paper and rub and roll the stick until it is green. Any ideas?

You can wrap the stick with floral tape after the cookie is all done.

I'd rather not use the floral tape. I'm sure I'd break cookies doing that. I just wondered if there was a better way to use food coloring that wasn't such a mess.

Put the food coloring in a cup and paint it on, using a new paint brush of course! Maybe one of those foam paint brushes would work better than a regular paint brush.

the floral tape is super easy. just twirl the stick in your hand as the tape wraps around it. you won't break the cookies (now that I've said that...)

good luck with it!

oooh, some people put sticks in AFTER they bake...wrap sticks in floral tape, then put in right after you take cookies out of oven...?

no, i was talking about the white lollipop sticks.

once the cookie is cooled you wrap the tape aroung the stick (starting near the cookie and working down) then, when you reach the bottom I found if you squeeze the end a little while turning the stick it "seals" the seam

hope this helps

Some people do actually put the sticks in after baking. You can use lollipop sticks this way (the plastic ones) and they have green ones. I've had to do this once, because I stuck the cookies in the oven and halfway through remembered they were supposed to be on sticks. I prefer doing it before baking, but either way seems to work.

I like the idea of the spray food color. Hmm, I think I might even have some in the cupboard. Maybe I'll try this, and also give the tape a try. See which one works best. I love getting ideas from you all!
