Ok.. It's me Christy.. I need to get one of those edible printers!!! here is what I am thinking.. Could I purchase a reg. printer and then just order the edible ink ? Are the edible ink cartridges shaped like reg. ink? Here is what I found.. and when you read it says" Each printer is cleaned and tested for Edible Images".. Does this mean it was re-manufactured from reg. INK to Edible INK?

You can get a printer for those edible images a LOT cheaper than that. Look at the Canon ones. BestBuy has the Canon ip1600 for $49.99 - and the cartridges that go in them are like $50...but you have to order them from a specialty shop like tastyfoto. Do a search on here, there has been several discussions about them.

I have been wanting to get sone of these, but am still so confused...there are so many different types out and I keep reading about clogging problems and things like that. How much do you charge for a cake with a printout on it? And what are the licensing problems? What brands do you recommend?

If you do a search for printer and username Lisa (the moderator). She gives a lot of information. I believe she also has an e-book about the subject. I haven't seen it but she is very knowledgeable about the subject.

She also recommends to buy everything separate.

I have been researching also but I am undecided on the exact printer I want to buy.

Hope that helps,
Cecilia

I'm still waiting to get it in the mail. I can't wait to use it myself. I'm ok with the price, I can make it up in less than a month. Especially since the images are so much quicker to print than BCT's are to make!

Hi!

Just thought Id tell you about my Sweet Art printer. Its FANTASTIC. I know its MUCH more expensive than the printers that use icing sheets (mine prints directly on the cakes and cookies) but there is no messing about trying to place the paper on the cake, and no worries about the sheet not melting into the icing. If you do lots, I highly recommend it!

Good Luck!
