Hiya all,
My MIL owns a local bar and her birthday just happens to be on dec. 31. So we all go down and celebrate (for better or worse)! And I always get her a cake or make her one.
This year I bought some pans at the local wallymart (2 10's and 2 6's) I was wondering if any of ya'll have any kewl ideas!!! Any would be great! thumbs_up.gificon_cool.gif

Do you want to incorporate the whole bar & booze theme or is that tacky for her?

Well...you did good on your pan sizes...I think a two tier cake would be great. You could do something really colorful with maybe dots and swirls on the tiers. You could put some curly ribbon on top or some other colorful topper you think she might like. I would just make it fun...that way you do not have to stick with any paticular theme. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

Hmmm, if the booze would be tacky, I don't know how you are with fondant, but what about putting things around the cake that you find in a bar---lemon and lime wedges, cherries, olives, crazy drink stirrers, glasses, umbrellas.
With her bday being on 12/31 AND working in a bar, how can you pass up a bar themed cake??

Yep, you could make fondant streamers and stuff, that would be neat. With it being 2 tiers, you have plenty of decorating room!

How about a pink elephant cake w/ pink elephants done in figure piping siting, crawling up the sides, laying on top and use a champagne bottle or candles and make their trunks going into little plastic champagne glasses filled w/piping gel. The elephants have red X eyes. Sounds like you may already have a great idea, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
