How do you make fondant sparkle? I've seen so many lovely bows that seem to shimmer. I've tried adding vanilla to cake sparkles and painting it on, but the sparkles seem to dissolve.

I think that most cake artists use "lustre dust" to get that special sparkle on their cakes. They have that at sugarcraft.com for like i think it was 2.69 for a 2 gm jar ( a little goes a long way). They aren't water soluble so you should use either clear extracts like lemon, vanilla or almond or good ol vodka.

p.s. If you want to use the cake sparkles that you have, just mist the bow or fondant lightly with water (to make it a little sticky) and sprinkle away.
