Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to forward along a pic of a Louis Vuitton purse cake I worked on with my husband this weekend.
A former student of mine called me for it. Her birthday was on Christmas day, and she wanted something really special, and requested a Louis Vuitton purse. I did not have a ton of time to work on it because it was a last minute request, but with my husband in on it, we were able to get it done.
We made the Chocolate fondant look leather by cutting up a plastic toy football and using it as an impression mat. (a tip learned from Blakes Cakes).
Then my husband created a hand-cut stencil from stencil plastic he bought at the craft store. He drew the design on it, and then cut it with an exacto knife. I stenciled the pattern on with a mixture of edible titanium white and food coloring. The piping along the edges of the purse hid the connection points of the fondant, and was done with a clay gun. The strap was just fondant strips embossed with the wilton pizza cutter thingy. The cell phone and keys were both hand-sculpted completely from sugarpaste. Anyway, we are happy with how this turned out! I already posted it to my photos, but was extra proud and wanted to show everyone in the forums too.
Great cake. I love how you explained how you did it all. I love the idea of the stencil. I did an LV bag earlier this year (with the birthday girl's initial's instead of LV) but it took forever to hand paint all the logos on there! Thanks for the stencil tip, I will be doing something like that next time for sure!!!
