How do you get the fondant or what looks like fondant to stick up off the cake. It looks like wire with the fondant piece stuck in the top. I have seen lots of stars like this!

Water will make fondant adhere .. I'm not sure which cake you're referring to ... it could be the star is wired.. icon_smile.gif

I've used spaghetti inserted in MMF letters to have them stand off the cake. I was going with the "everything is edible" idea instead of using skewers or toothpicks or wire.

When the letters were slightly dry but still very soft, I gently shoved the spaghetti in each piece allowing enough length to insert into the cake for anchoring.

I used angel hair pasta but I think a thin linguine would be better b/c it wouldn't spin. I had problems with my letters rotating.
